Founded by the Vikings in the ninth century, you would be forgiven for imagining Dublin as a place solely built of hearty food stuffs fit for warriors; Irish stews, potatoes, soda bread, and Guinness pints; Dublin is still all of this.

But it also has high-end whiskey to warm the heart, contemporary Irish dishes with a twist, French cuisine, Michelin star restaurants and a multicultural metropolis attracting permanent expats and short-term tourists from all over the world.

Dublin is also Ireland’s premiere business centre, and people from all over the globe travel to this great city for work. But business trips are often short, and very seldom are visitors able to get to see all the sights and eat all of the food that they’d like to during their brief stay.

On that note, we’re about to shortlist some of the best restaurants in Dublin to take a client, so get your Irish chauffeur to drop ye off at one of these tasty spots for a bite to eat.

  1. Shanahan’s On the Green
  2. Irish beef is world famous and this contemporary steak house is a dream for the discerning carnivore looking for delectable certified Irish Angus. The juicy steaks are famous all over the city and while they are the main attraction, the rest of the menu isn’t to be scoffed at either. Guests can also enjoy fresh native seafood, pork and lamb dishes and desserts that simply can’t be resisted.

  3. The Winding Stair
  4. This little gem has long been a favourite with the bohemian demographic of Dublin who have been coming here for the bookshop upstairs, but the jazzy restaurant has gained some incredible popularity in the last couple of years too.

There aren’t many places in Dublin where you can find better traditional Irish dishes. Ingredients are locally sourced and are organic, while the seafood, Irish farmhouse cheeses and cured meats are a favourite on the menu.

  5. Searsons of Baggot Street
  6. If you’re looking for a traditional Irish scene, then this is the place to take your clients. Exceptional Irish cuisine is served alongside some of the country’s finest whiskeys in a setting that is traditional yet also contemporary. Another treat is the wonderful beer garden at the back of the establishment that serves hearty pints of local and international brews.

  7. Chapter One
  8. Located below the Dublin Writer’s Museum, this dazzling, Michelin starred restaurant is a favourite of book lovers throughout the city. The restaurant is one of the rare eateries with Michelin status and has the very best of locally-sourced artisan produce.

The menu is made up of dishes such as “cured Clare Island organic salmon with smoked salmon mousse, fresh peas and yuzu jelly”, as well as “Pig’s tail stuffed with Fingal Ferguson’s bacon and lobster” to mention just a few.  The menu changes seasonally to ensure fresh, local produce at all times.

  9. L’ecrivain
  10. This is one of Dublin’s most popular restaurants, and they specialise in Irish cuisine with a French influence. The chefs have given traditional dishes an inventive, French twist and they are doing such an exquisite job that their dishes are Michelin-starred too.

They use small, local producers and they change the menu according to seasonal availability; their game dishes are particularly popular, as is their extensive wine list.
